Australian Formula Ford joins NSW state series at Wakefield this weekend

This weekend our National competitors will be joining the 2021 NSW Formula Ford Championship for round 2 of both series. A healthy, competitive, 25-car grid is expected at the event, with a mix of Duratec and Kent-powered cars. Tom Sargent, our current championship leader, will be racing on home soil and is looking to carry the momentum gained at Sydney Motorsport Park where he clean swept the weekend at round 1. Sargent will have a range of drivers looking at upsetting his current streak, the names expected at the front include Cody Burcher, Jude Bargwanna and Cody Donald. The stakes for the leading group have escalated in the last week, after the recent announcement of a DJR Supercars test offered to the winner of this year's Australian Formula Ford Championship. Within the NSW Formula Ford ranks, Zach Bates will be the one to watch. The young Mygale driver is currently leading the state championship in the Duratec class after winning every race at Sydney Motorsport Park in April. It will be interesting to see how the rookie compares to the more experienced National drivers. Scott Tidyman is currently leading the Kent class in the NSW state championship. The NSW Kent field this year is also welcoming Kiarra Jones, a young teenager from the ACT.
