Luis Leeds takes tight win at Queensland Raceway
Luis Leeds grabbed first place by the nose of his car from Cameron Hill this afternoon as the Australian Formula Ford Series continued at Queensland Raceway. Leeds’ victory brings an end to Hill’s six-race winning streak. Leeds and Hill were locked in an intense battle for majority of the race. Hill was slow off the start, which Leeds capitalised on and took the lead into the first corner. After a few corners Hill took the lead back and held the position for a number of laps. Leeds stayed with Hill, made a pass late in the race and held on for the victory. The Sonic Motor Racing-prepared Mygale SJ12 of Christian Morina came home in third, eight seconds behind Hill. Morina’s team-mate Thomas Maxwell was the only driver to not finish the race. Running off at Turn 4 proved costly for William Brown, meanwhile, dropping from third to fifth. Synergy Motorsport’s Andrew Kahl avoided Brown’s incident and finished fourth. Jake Spencer put in an exceptional drive, starting from pit-lane and finishing seventh, gaining 10 positions. Cameron Walters passed James Corbett to finish first in the Kent series.
