FORMULA FORD ASSOCIATION LOOKS TO A STRONG FUTURE FOR AUSTRALIAN FORMULA FORD
The Formula Ford Association has reaffirmed its commitment to the future of Formula Ford in Australia following its decision to formally end its agreement with AASA, effective immediately.
The decision has been made in the best interests of the category and its competitors, with the Association continuing to seek the strongest possible racing opportunities, event platforms and coverage for its members.
For generations, Formula Ford has occupied a unique position within Australian and international motorsport.
Few categories anywhere in the world can match its history of identifying, developing and launching young driving talent.
Formula Ford has been the first major step in the careers of countless household names in Australian motorsport, while internationally the category has helped launch drivers who would ultimately progress to the highest levels of the sport and become World Champions.
That extraordinary history remains just as relevant today.
Formula Ford continues to be regarded as the ultimate first step for young drivers beginning a serious motorsport career, providing an environment where racecraft, car control, mechanical understanding and driver ability remain at the centre of competition.
At the same time, Formula Ford in Australia represents considerably more than a pathway for emerging drivers.
The Formula Ford Association represents competitors across a broad range of Formula Ford racing, including the National Duratec category, state-level Duratec and Kent competition, and Historic Formula Ford classes, ensuring cars and competitors from multiple generations remain an important part of Australian motorsport.
The Association remains in a very strong structural position and is firmly focused on ensuring Formula Ford continues well into the future.
Central to that responsibility is representing the interests of its members and continually assessing where and how Formula Ford should compete.
Every decision made by the Formula Ford Association is ultimately guided by what will provide the best possible environment for its competitors, teams, officials and the wider Formula Ford community.
As part of the next chapter, the 2026 Yokohama Formula Ford Championship has secured a position at the Winton Hi-Tec Oils Super Series round from 25–27 September 2026.
Discussions are continuing with a number of promoters regarding additional rounds, with further calendar announcements expected shortly.
The Formula Ford Association believes the strength of the category lies not only in its extraordinary history, but in the community, competitors and racing that continue to sustain it today.
Formula Ford has launched generations of careers.
It has remained relevant through decades of change in Australian motorsport.
And the Formula Ford Association intends to ensure it continues to provide that opportunity — across National, State and Historic competition — for many years to come.
