New Tyre Option for Historic Formula Ford Cars

A recent advise from Motorsport Australia.

”The Motorsport Australia Historic Motorsport Committee (MAHMC) and its delegate Historic Eligibility Committee (HEC) have deliberated the matter of tyres in Historic Formula Ford.

In line with the ethos of historic racing being purely for the enjoyment of the participants and spectators and not for the conduct of a Championship, Cup, Challenge, Trophy or Series and not for prizemoney or any award of monetary value, it has been decided the best course of action is to formulate a list of acceptable tyres for Historic Formula Ford and allow choice and market forces to decide which tyre suits the competitor best.

This system is used throughout other Historic Sports and Racing categories to good effect. Therefore, it has been decided that the current Avon ACB9 A29 along with the Avon ACB9 A46 and the Hoosier Vintage Formula Ford tyre will be listed for 5th Category Formula Ford use.

Subject to the above choice of tyre, a competitor must use the tyre specification they qualified on for the entirety of the event they are entered in.

The Committee will continue to review annually, or more frequently if the need arises, tyre eligibility as they apply to Historic motor sport”.

The Make and Type of tyre used on a vehicle for Qualifying at an Event must be used on that vehicle in all races at that Event."

This change is effective immediately.

We are advised a set will be $1540 incl GST.
