D'Alia and Jones claim 2019 Victorian Championships

Ben D'Alia and Brendan Jones have claimed the 2019 Victorian Formula Ford and FF1600 Championships. Ben D'Alia's championship campaign was a true "family effort", as his Spectrum 014 is prepped and run by him and his father, Mark, in their garage at home. Ben happily reflected on his season: "2019 has been a great year for us. We brought home our first race win in round one. Throughout the year, we maintained great pace and had other wins and podium finishes. I think the key factor in the championship was consistency. We brought the car home with minimal incidents and we were able to keep it nice and clean." Rookies Ben Bargwanna - son of Bathurst 1000 winner Jason - and Sonic Motor Racing Services' Kyle Gurton rounded out the podium in the Duratec class. Spectrum factory driver Brendan Jones brought home his fifth Victorian FF1600 Championship in a row. "2019 proved to be another great year for the Speco/VHT Spectrum #1 securing title No 5. This one is a little bit sweeter as I emulated my father Peter who won 5 Vic State titles in his Cheetah Clubman between 1976 - 80," said the five-time Victorian FF1600 Champion. Peter Fitzgerald and Doug Williams completed the podium in their Kent-powered Spectrum 06Bs, resulting in a podium sweep for the Australian-built cars. The Victorian representatives for the Formula Ford Association Inc. would like to thank all of the competitors, teams, families and friends who participated in this year's championship. The Victorian Formula Ford Championship will be back in 2020 with more exciting, wheel-to-wheel racing.
