Australian Formula Ford - Porsche Cars Australia agreement announced

The Formula Ford Association is proud to confirm the addition of an exciting new prize for the winner of the 2019 Australian Formula Ford Championship, in agreement with Porsche Cars Australia. The 2019 Australian Formula Ford Champion will be offered a test day aboard a current spec Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car (Gen II) at Queensland Raceway, under the guidance of former Australian Formula Ford Champions Tomas Mezera and Luke Youlden. The test will also involve drivers from the Porsche 944 Challenge and the SP Tool Australian Kart Championship. “We are pleased to expand our support of Australian Motor Sport to these three exciting categories,” announced motorsport manager for Porsche Cars Australia, Troy Bundy. “Karting and Formula Ford are key to young driver development and have a long track record of producing talent that excels in Porsche Cup racing. “Porsche and our partners have made a significant investment into driver development locally and we are proud to expand that further this year.” "We are proud to be announcing this prize during the 50th-anniversary year of Formula Ford in Australia," said Australian Formula Ford administrator Phil Marrinon. "This further confirms Australian Formula Ford as an essential learning category in the country, and also gives our drivers multiple pathways to pursue when graduating. By providing multiple options after Formula Ford we are allowing young Australian drivers coming out of karting to choose their pathway, be it Europe, America, Asia or Australia. "I would also like to acknowledge the work undertaken by our category manager, Iccy Harrington. His input was crucial to securing this agreement to provide further opportunities for Australian Formula Ford graduates in the future." Australian Formula Ford will be back on track on July 19th-21st at Sandown Raceway for the fifth round of the 2019 Championship.
