Mouzouris to the top after Winton three-peat
17 year old Victorian Angelo Mouzouris now leads the Australian Formula Ford Championship after he won Race 3 and clean swept the round at the Winton Supersprint.
A clean start saw Mouzouris lead into Turn 1 ahead of Liam McLellan. McLellan held second early before dropping back through the field to finish in 11th.
Starting sixth after a post-race time penalty in Race 2, Callum Hedge charged back through to second before the safety car was called with three laps remaining to recover Hank Perkins after he spun at Turn 9.
Mouzouris fended off Hedge in a last-lap dash after the safety car to win by only one tenth of a second ahead of his Sonic Motor Racing Services team mate, with privateer Spectrum driver Cody Donald impressing in third.
With a clean sweep, Angelo Mouzouris scored his maiden Australian Formula Ford Championship round victory ahead of Hedge and Donald.
In the process, Mouzouris jumped from fourth to now lead the championship on 131 by nine points from Callum Hedge on 122 and Tom Sargent on 117.
Round 4 of the 2019 Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia, featuring at the Australian Motor Racing Series event on June 21-23.

“I’m really happy with this result, I can’t the team at Sonic Motor Racing Services enough for giving me a great car for this weekend,” said Mouzouris.
“We had a pretty decent gap in Race before the safety car came out, and the same thing happened in Race 2 and 3, so I just had to keep my head down and focus on getting the job done.
Second - Callum Hedge #5 Mygale - Sonic Motor Racing Services
“It was definitely an up and down weekend coming from pole and having two very average races,” said Hedge.
“I managed to salvage some points in the last race coming from sixth up to second so all-in-all a pretty good weekend and happy to end up second overall.
“I’ve finished second at every round this year so far so we’ll definitely be aiming for the top step at The Bend.”
Third - Cody Donald #60 Spectrum - 3DRaceLog/Renta2Way
“I’m really happy to take third for Race 3 and for the round here at Winton,” said Donald.
“Our first two rounds didn’t quite go our way as they were both tracks I hadn’t been to before, but it was good to come back to a track I know and perform strongly.
“It was good to show our pace today with a couple of thirds today and third for the round.
“Thanks to all my sponsors, my family and the team at Borland Racing Developments for working so hard on my car last night which enabled me to move up the grid today.
“This result gives us a good confidence boost heading to The Bend in a few weeks so i’m looking forward to that.”
