Hill kicks showdown weekend off with pole

Cameron Hill has continued his dominant form, claiming pole position for the final round of the 2015 Australian Formula Ford Series by more than three-tenths of a second at Wakefield Park Raceway. The Queanbeyan driver set the fastest time of the session at 1m00.468s. Sonic driver Thomas Maxwell was second with a time of 1m00.788s, with Mitch Martin taking third. Hill’s nearest championship rival, Christian Morina, will start fourth after setting a 1m00.828s, while Luis Leeds qualified fifth. Pole in the Kent class went to Cameron Walters in a time of 1m03.583s, with Luke Ellery second and Robert Power third. Hill’s point for pole position sees him extend his championship lead to 54 points, and he can seal the championship in this afternoon’s race with an eighth place finish.
