2014 Australian Formula Ford Series set for Round 2

The reborn Australian Formula Ford Series is back for its second round of action this weekend as part of Round 4 of the Shannons Australian Motor Racing Nationals at Winton Motor Raceway June 13 - 15.

Following a strong opening round at South Australia’s Mallala Motorsport Park, another strong showing of 21 Formula Fords entries will line up at Winton, the home test ground for a majority of the field.

Odds-on favourite, James Golding, will be one to watch in the faster Duratec class following his outstanding victory in Round 1 in April.

The works Spectrum driver will have his work cut out however, with the Sonic trio of Hamish Hardeman, Nick Rowe and Christian Morina all looking to spoil his early championship lead.

Although enduring a testing weekend in Mallala, Tom Grech will be out for redemption in his Borland Racing Developments prepared Spectrum, with himself and Golding benefitting from a day-long test session at Winton in the weeks leading up to the event.

Round 1 winner in the competitive Kent division was James Garley, who will once again be on the hunt for victory at his home circuit.

Calling Albury home along with fellow Kent competitor Michel Hinrichs, Garley will have a slightly easier weekend after a last-minute retreat from Australian racing royalty.

The grid will battle it out across three 10-lap races on Saturday and Sunday.

The Duratecs and Kent powered cars will open proceedings with Practice 1 at 9:00am Friday 13 June, while Qualifying takes place 11:30am on Saturday 14 June.

Races 2 and 3 of the weekend will be streamed live on Nationals TV, with all the live action kicking off from 9:00am AEST Sunday 15 June.
