Certificate of Origins

The FFA is aware of an email circulating stating that FFA will issue Certificates of Origin at no cost to Historic Competitors. This unauthorised email is inaccurate and does not represent the current position of the FFA.

Under the CAMS Manual, all Formula Ford 1600 cars are required to hold a current Certificate of Origin issued by the FFA.

At present, all Formula Ford cars (ie Fiesta engined) are also required to have a certificate of origin issued by the FFA  if they had a log book issued prior to 1 January 2011. The FFA is currently in consultation with CAMS to rectify an anomaly relating the Certificate of Origins for those Formula Ford (Fiesta) vehicles with log books issued post 31 December 2010. The intention is for these vehicles to also require a certificate of origin issued by FFA.

The FFA utilises the Certificate of Origin procedures to ensure a history of Formula Fords is maintained. Our records date back to 1969.

Historic Formula Fords are required to have a "Certificate of Description". There is no requirement for these vehicles to also have a Certificate of Origin unless they are racing under the current regulations for Formula Ford 1600 (i.e. not competing under their Historic Log Book).

Whilst the FFA is considering the issue of ownership records for those vehicles now in Historic racing, no decision has been made by the Committee of FFA at this stage on this matter. Proposals are currently being drafted as to procedures and methods to achieve the maintenance and upkeep of our vehicle history records, and it is expected that these will be presented to the FFA for its consideration during 2011.

Once a decision has been made, the procedures, forms, and costs (if any) will be advised on the FFA website.
